CombineZP is very easy to use; I made my first stacked image in a few minutes since the software is straightforward. I took a set of 15 photos with my (old) Galaxy S8 smart phone mounted using an adaptor (Amazon) to hold it steady on the eyepiece. I used Framelapse app set to take a photo every 2 seconds as I turned the focus knob through the range required for my subject to cover the full depth (1 1/2 turns in this case) .The app was programmed to take 60 photos but I hit stop when I had covered the full range.
Almost any smart phone will work; Amazon offers several adapters. Buy a used smart phone for a few $-you get higher resolution and save money over a microscope camera. Many time lapse apps are free and can be set to record a sequence of individual JPEGs (not a movie). Hope this helps other aspiring microscopists.

I find the program very satisfactory, especially since it is free and offers practically the same results as paid programs. The only problem I find is that I have to close the program to start a new job. But it is not a big problem.

The program doesn't work. A warning comes out saying "can't open the program on your PC". My PC is an HP with Windows 10 ...!

Francesco, It's not the program... I'm running Win 10 on my desktop and it opens fine. Maybe some security software blocking it!

Simple to use for basic stacking, however, added features and tech terms are Greek to me.. No crashes with Windows10. Appreciate the free software, Allen. Good work!

Great programme that I am just starting to use this last week. It crashes sort of frequently but that's OK. I have now noticed since installing that Microsoft compatibly telemetry executable is going wild on Windows 10 laptop. and consuming 20% CPU since loading this programme. I think this is causing the crashes? Anyone else noticed this happening? I will have to disable this exe I think. Thanks
